Contract negotiations with starting small forward Rudy Gay went from tenuous at best to disastrously bad as word got to him that management was not willing to spend more money on him because he was gay. Gay hopped into his tricked out vintage cherry red Mazda Miata and zoomed over to confront management, bursting into the still ongoing meeting shouting, “Let me get this straight. You’re not extending me because I’m gay?”

“No, not at all Rudy. This is a silly misunderstanding, that’s all.” replied Grizzlies GM and noted poor deal maker Chris Wallace. “Your agent Jeff here had just said that if you were Lebron or Wade the organization would jump to extend you, and I replied that you’re not James or Wade, you’re Gay. See, just a simple wording mistake. No big deal.”
“So let me get this straight. If I was James or Wade you’d extend me, but since I’m Gay you’re holding out?”
“It’s nothing personal Rudy. Players like Wade and Lebron have accomplished a lot more in their careers.”
“So it’s true you bigoted bastards. You’re not extending me because I’m Gay.
“No Rudy, you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying. I’m talking about your last name. It’s Gay.”
“So now my family name offends you? Can’t have Gay all lit up on the scoreboard? No black letters saying Gay in your programs? Man, you make me sick.”
“No no, Rudy, hold on here. You know that’s not what I meant…”
“Oh I got this hater. You’ll be hearing from my attorneys. Plural. Come on Jeff, let’s go.”
Introspective Gay contemplates his destiny
When approached for comment, Rudy confirmed the story and went on to give further insight into his stance.
“I’m not going to change who I am. I’ve been Gay all my life. Just because I’m Gay doesn’t mean I should be paid less. There are a lot of Gays out there, we are family. I want them all to know that I am taking a stand for them. I am ready to be a Gay martyr for all of the oppressed Gays.”
